Ahmanson Theater (Downtown)

A part of the Center Theater group, the Ahmanson Theater in downtown Los Angeles has been one of the primary sources of entertainment for the people of the city and also the visitors on Los Angeles CA travel for a long time. It is one of the four venues that together constitute the Los Angeles Music Center.

Named after the noted philanthropist Robert H. Ahmanson whose generosity led to the beginning of the construction of the Ahmanson Theater, the place has been venue to few of the most amazing on stage performances in the history of performing arts. It has been the co-producer to award winning productions like The Drowsy Chaperone, Seven Guitars, Two Trains Running, and The Piano Lesson.

The season ticket subscription of the Ahmanson Theater, which is the largest in the entire West Coast, is the one thing that proves its popularity beyond any scope of argument or discussion. The stage has been venue to comedies, musicals, classics, and other wide range of performing arts, truly demonstrating its appeal to a very large base of people, all with different tastes and choices.

The Ahmanson Theater has had close associations to the glitz and glamour of the film industry too. In December 2006, the theater played host to the musical adaptation of the highly acclaimed Tim Burton film, Edward Scissorhands, the onscreen version starring the likes of Johnny Depp. The adaptation was directed by Tim Burton himself and the choreography was done by Matthew Bourne.

Also, the recently released movie Frost/Nixon about the flamboyant and bohemian news reporter David Frost's successful attempt of making the President of the United States of America, Richard Nixon admit to the Watergate issue and make him apologize for it, has also been staged at the Ahmanson Theater in an adapted form. The play has been written by Peter Morgan.
