New Chinatown
Although the initial Chinatown Los Angeles was founded way back in 1800 in the Downtown district by the large Chinese community living there, the New Chinatown Los Angeles was developed in 1930 by the efforts of the Chinese community leader Peter Soo Hoo Sr. What initially was primarily just a residential and business center for the people of Chinese origin, transformed into a tourist attraction drawing visitors and tourists on Los Angeles California travel not only from the different parts of the city or state but also from various parts of the country.
The entire area has been outlaid on the lines of original cities of china and the air and smell of the district remind you of the finest traditions attributed to the Chinese cities like Shanghai and Beijing. However, there is a fine balance and a unique American element too, in order to make you feel that you are not far away from home.
By the time New Chinatown Los Angeles celebrated its 70th Anniversary on the 28th of June, 2008, the district had grown to become the second most popular Chinese area in the country, only after the Chinatown San Francisco, and had expanded in terms of area too. It is now bounded by the Olevra Street and the Dodger Stadium.
Designed by Hollywood film set designers, the area does inspire awe and amazement by the tourists. With fine dining and shopping options available, the one thing that probably attracts the people most is the Central Plaza, a Hollywood adaptation of the magnificent city of Shanghai.
The Chinatown Los Angeles is a must visit for tourists or visitor who travel to Los Angeles. To get the real taste of China in the heart of America is something that will stay etched in your memory for a long time. Make sure you pick up some beautiful Chinese souvenirs for your friends and family.
Have fun out there!
