The museum itself has a rich history attached to it. You would be surprised to know that the museum opened in 1913 as Museum of History, Science, and Art before it was rechristened as Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The museum was further expanded in 1925, 1930, 1960 and 1976 with additional wings being constructed in a drive to expand the museum.
As far as the admission policy is concerned, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County allows free entry on the first Tuesday of every month! On other days however, an adult would have to pay just $9 to witness the amazing exhibits that the museum offers. The museum also offers special discounts for senior citizens and the planning is disabled people friendly as all exhibits have wheelchair access.
The permanent exhibits on display here include the Dinosaur Exhibit, a favourite of young and old alike, the informative Ancient Latin American exhibit, the Marine Hall showcasing sea life of California and the Gem and Mineral Hall that has over 2000 mineral and gem specimens collected from all over.
