There is no better place to learn about the natural and cultural history that spans over a period of about 4.5 billion years than at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County in California. There are permanent exhibitions found in three floors featuring some collections that will surprise you such as the world's rarest shark. There is also an insect zoo worth seeing.

The collection at this natural museum is in various fields and there is also a research centre at the museum. The fields include Archaeology, Echinoderms, Botany, Mammalogy, Mineralogy, Entomology and History among other fields. Exhibits at the museum include special exhibits, permanent exhibits, past exhibits and exhibits for rent.

2. Special displays you should not miss

There is the Pavilion of Wings that features a collection of butterflies and moths. Visit the Gem and Mineral Hall Vault and see the Kazanjian Red Diamond from South Africa. On Level 2 is where to get the new exhibits featuring the cultures of the Aztec, Maya and Inca.

3. Additional information

If you are there on the first Tuesday of the month, then you get a chance to enter free but the rest of the days are charged. The museum accepts membership and some of its members are teachers and active military. Members access the museum free on all first Fridays. The museum is located near good hotels in Los Angeles hence you should not have much difficulty accessing it.
