Later, the museum was transferred into the city library and in the year 1947, it was expanded. Through the expansion of the place, the museum also develop and reflect the community’s growing interest in its natural science and American Indian collection programs.

At present, the constant collection of the museum is comprises of greater than 24,000 object. Out of the 24,000 objects, 12,000 of them consist of fine arts, photographic archives, fine art photography, Native American art, artifacts from other culture and Mesoamerican art. The collections of natural science are sectioned in geology, archaeology and biology.

The remaining 12,000 are specimens which comprises of lithics, ceramics, tools, minerals, weapons, rocks, fossils, herbaria, casts of fossils, preserved amphibians and reptiles, mounted invertebrates, study skin and complete rises of birds and mammals.

If want to visit the Palm Springs Art Museum, just to give you information the place is open from Mondays till Sundays and the operations starts 10 in the morning and ends up 5 in the evening. But on during Thursday it starts to operate 12 noon until 8 in the evening, but 4 in the afternoon till 8 in the evening the admission is free which is sponsored by the City of Palm Springs.
