San Jacinto Peak

San Jacinto Peak is the highest peak of the San Jacinto Mountains and of the Riverside County, in California. This lies within the Mount San Jacinto State Park. To the east of the peak, you will find the city of Palm Springs and to the west is the mountain community of the Idyllwild. The peak is also known as the Mount San Jacinto.

According to some people, to the Cahuilla Indians, the mountain was called as the ‘I a Kitch or Aya Kaich’ that means smooth cliffs. The peak was flanked by Jean Peak which is 10,670 and the Marion Mountain which is 3,158 meters. The mountain has an easy access and very accessible to hikers, campers and trekkers.

There are many trails penetrate the San Jacinto Wilderness and you can find some Palm Spring travel packages that will help you find hikes and camps on the city. The most famous route begins with a ride in the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway from the Valley Station about 2,463 feet near the Palm Springs to the Mountain Station.

From that location, you can now easily climb the peak face via trails. Another trail that you can find is in the hike of Marion Mountain Trail from the close mountain town which is Idyllwild. The cactus to clouds trail involves a strenuous climb of about ten thousand feet from the Palm Spring Arts Museum to the zenith at about ten, eight hundred feet.
