It was the name applied to the sighting of one or more UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) that happened on February 24 to February 25, 1942 over Los Angeles. This incident occurred three months after the American Government entered World War II, which triggered a massive anti-aircraft artillery barrage. It was thought to be an attack from the Japanese but was indicated to be imaginary and a case of war nerves.

Air raid sirens were sounded throughout Los Angeles County and a total blackout was ordered. The incident earned several mass media coverage throughout the nation and was a front-page news along the U.S. Pacific coast.
