Where is the center of Los Angeles City Jewish Community
Fairfax District has been the center of the City of Los Angeles' Jewish community. Many Jews after the World War II began to populate the area with most of them are Holocaust survivors.
There is a section of Fairfax Avenue that is filled with traditionally Jewish businesses like restaurants, baker's and barber's shops, Kosher delis and fish markets that is called or referred to as "The Bagel District" or Kosher Canyon by Angelenos.
In the year 1950's to 1970's, the district became the center of Jewish life in LA since the newly arrived immigrants from Russia and Israel gave the area a more cosmopolitan air.
