Most if not all of the airlines in America have the same baggage allowance policies for both domestic and international travels. For Northwest Airlines check-in baggage allowance, traveling within United States or to/from Canada, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands, with Coach Class Travel ticket, you are allowed up to 2 bags with size and weight limits of 62 linear inches and 23 kilograms, whereas for customers with First Class Travel ticket, 3 bags are allowed and the limits are 62 linear inches and 32 kilograms.

And carry-on baggage should not exceed 45 linear inches. Additional charges are applied for baggage weighing more than 23 kilograms or with a total linear dimension of more than 62 inches.
