Who were the first Europeans to visit Los Angeles region

Captain Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and his crew were the first Europeans to set foot on Los Angeles region, as they were sailing up the coast to find their way to Asia in 1542. Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo was an explorer from Portuguese, well-known for his exploration of the west coast of North America.

His voyage started from Natividad, which is now Acapulco in New Spain on June 27, 1542 and landed September 28, 1542 in a place he named San Miguel that is now known as San Diego Bay. He sailed through Santa Barbara Channel, Point Concepcion and the Russian River. He died on January 3, 1543.

The newest freeway in Los Angeles

The Foothill Freeway Extension was only completed in 2007 thus making it the newest freeway in Los Angeles. It is also known as the California 210 was only completed July of 2007.

In combination with the Interstate 210 and California 30 the California 210 will now link the Los Angeles from San Fernando Valley to Redlands. The extension is specifically from Sierra Avenue to Highland Avenue.

Although the main freeway itself was opened in 1955 most of its part is still functioning and being use by commuters in Los Angeles.
