Was there a foreign military base in Los Angeles
Korean Independence Memorial Building houses the KNA (Korean National Association) since 1938. It was the facility that functioned as the U.S. headquarters of the Korean Independence movement during the World War II. The Korean Americans were mistaken for Japanese Americans who were confined during the war. The KNA issued a certificate of Korean national origin which protected the Koreans.
The Korean National Association Heritage Preservation Committee began restoration of this significant building. The City of Los Angeles declared this as a Historic-Cultural Monument in 1991.
