The team won 16 championships all in all. They have won 6 championship under the Minneapolis Lakers name in 1948, 1949, 1950, 1952, 1953, and 1954, while 10 with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1972, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, 2002, and recently in 2009.
