The first ever movie studio created in Hollywood area is the Nestor Studios. It was founded in 1911. It was built in the Blondeau Tavern building in the northwest corner of Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street. And on the same year 15 more Independent movie makers settled in Hollywood.

One of the most popular films created under Nestor Motion Picture Company is the Mutt and Jeff comedy episode. Among the comedy show they also produce a singles-reel Western picture and drama episode each week. And in 1912 other East Coast filmmakers merged in a new Universal Film Company.
