Echo Park is the neighborhood of Los Angeles that is home to the annual Lotus Festival which was originally called the "Day of the Lotus Festival". It is the center of Los Angeles film industry before World War I, just until the end of the silent era before the studios moved to Hollywood.
This region includes the most thickly populated areas in Los Angeles such as Angelino Heights which is the first recognized historic district in the City of Angels, the Westlake where the famous MacArthur Park is located which was named after General Douglas MacArthur, the Harvard Heights and the newly-created district of Los Angeles City, the Historic Filipinotown.
