The Manzanar War Relocation Center was the first concentration camp built that detained Japanese-Americans during World War II. The camp consisted of many buildings, military police housing, a reservoir, a sewage treatment plant, and agricultural fields.

Currently, the Manzanar Interpretive Center is now a museum which features exhibits and artifacts from a by-gone era. The historic site is open every day from sunrise to sundown but the Interpretative Center has scheduled dates and times open. There is no charge upon admission.
