No. Van Nuys is not a city but rather one of the districts of San Fernando Valley region in Los Angeles. It is named after Isaac Van Nuys, a Dutch descent that founded the San Fernando Homestead Association in 1869. Van Nuys Boulevard, a main thoroughfare of the district is renowned for its car dealership.

It was home for Van Nuys Assembly Plant, a General Motors' Chevrolet division major manufacturing facility until 1998.
